Dorsey, Floyd. Floyd found peace on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the age of 77. Partner and husband of Sally Maddick for 39 years. Floyd’s vocal styling in jazz and swing was loved by many, and valued by the many musicians he worked with throughout his years dedicated to entertainment and music. A “Celebration of Music” is being held in his honor on Sunday, July 9, at Caroline’s Jazz Club, 1-5 PM. We invite those talented artists who have worked with Floyd to join together to “play their respects,” creating a celebration as he would enjoy. He is survived by his children, Phyllis Clay (Lionel), Floyd (Kimberly) of California, Douglas, Kimberley Triplett, Hollis, and other relatives. Donations may be made in his memory to support Jazz Unlimited Jazz Scholarships for Jazz Vocalists.
